Bluefishing: The Art of Making Things Happen

by Steve Sims

What I love about this book is that Steve Sims’s day job is to make the impossible possible. He has made a fortune by making dreams come true for the rich and famous; but this book isn’t about what he does for a living, it is about how he got there and more importantly how he keeps doing it every day.  This is not a “headsy self-help book”. It is an entertaining, slightly edgy, fast read that I literally wouldn’t put down. I felt like I should have had the Rocky soundtrack playing in the background while I was turning page after page.

Here’s the point…

This book isn’t a simple call to action, but rather a narrative playbook full of hundreds of calls to action. I found literally dozens of applications immediately that have positively impacted my mind-set and my performance as a coach and leader. No matter where you are in your sales career, Bluefishing will outfit you with simple yet effective ways to sharpen the saw and gain practical skills that can help you learn overcome obstacles in your change habits that are holding you back.

I’ve read (ok, skimmed) hundreds of books on sales and personal performance. If you want to serve your clients better, improve your performance or need to get unstuck, this book delivers. Steve hits you with clear messages, follows it with short stories from his experiences and then gives you secrets from the playbook so you can make these habits your own.

“There is a password for every door, you just have to listen for it.” – Steve Sims

I listen to the audiobook while driving to a job site. The drive was 5 1/2 hours, so I finished it in one sitting. I liked the book and listening to his accent.
